North Warwickshire Community Partnership - Transport

Key priorities:

  • To develop rural transport
  • To improve accessibility
  • To improve transport information
  • To promote equal opportunities, integration, sustainability and social inclusion

For many people, living in rural North Warwickshire provides an enjoyable and pleasant way of life. However to be able to fully enjoy living in the area, access to a car is important, (and to many people essential) since many facilities and activities are located outside the local area, for example hospital, cinema, shopping etc. Even facilities such as a doctor's surgery located two or three miles can be difficult to get to without a car.

Improving public transport in rural areas has been recognised as a priority by the Government. They have made additional funds available to the County Council and these have been used in North Warwickshire to improve public transport and make information available locally.

Update

25,000 Health & Transport Maps have been produced for the residents of North Warwickshire.

Car-Go-Bus have secured funding for a large contract, which means that they have an additional vehicle for local residents.

Rural Links has funding several projects between April and October 2005. There is still approx. £7,000 left to be spent before April 2006.

The Buzzard project is expanding to Shawbury, Maxstoke and keresley.
Buster Werkenbak is unchanged.

The officer currently co-ordinating the Rural Transport Partnership is leaving in January 2006.
