North Warwickshire Community Partnership - Transport News

Buster Werkenbak access to employment scheme commenced service on March 29th 2005. Two dedicated vehicles are in operation 7 days a week. This unique service enables people who have no access to local jobs, the opportunity to access employment at local employment sites and will provide current car users with the opportunity of leaving their car at home reducing the congestion on the roads. Users are required to register by contacting Buster Werkenbak 0121 776 8880, once they have registered they will be provided with a time and a place of pick up for the dates they have pre-booked.

The new Buzzard service has been operating since January and has developed a regular patronage. The Buzzard is a pre-bookable, wheelchair accessible service, operated by Car-go-Bus. Users are required to call 01827 722617 to book their seat for this Thursday service, which has been funded by the North Warwickshire Area Committee.

North Warwickshire’s Area Committee “Well being fund” has provided Car-go-Bus with a wheelchair accessible minibus which is liveried in the Counties corporate colours. This new vehicle is available for the community to hire, enabling local residents to access services which they may have been excluded from before, due to lack of suitable transportation.

The joint working report on transport to medical facilities has been completed. The results show that 9% of patients were dissatisfied with the transport available to their chosen medical facilities. These 9% highlight the need to develop transport provision to improve social inclusion. The project has fulfilled an objective of Community Partnership Day 3 and promoted community transport services. It has highlighted additional transport requirements at specific geographical locations throughout the rural localities of North Warwickshire. The use of a car, whether it is, private car, receiving a lift or taxi is the preferred mode of transport to medical facilities.
