North
Warwickshire Community Partnership Dialogue Events
Background
In
2000, every principal local authority was given a duty to prepare
a community plan for the area, enhancing the quality of life its
local community. In North Warwickshire it was agreed that this work
would be undertaken in partnership with local people and a range
of organisations, which led to the development of the first Partnership
Day in 2000.
Partnership
Day 1
The first Partnership event focused on quality of life
issues. The day looked at ways to tackle local priorities in partnership
with other organisations and to raise awareness of, and begin to
shape the development of the Community Plan for North Warwickshire.
The event also made a start of gaining ownership by agencies/groups
in the development of a broad North Warwickshire Community Partnership
(the Local Strategic Partnership) as well as establishing a shared
vision of where North Warwickshire should be in 20 years time.
Partnership
Day 2
Partnership Day II was organised like the first although
it was focussed around 2 key themes of the Community Plan, ‘Young
People’ and ‘Community Life’. The event updated
participants on the progress made on issues raised at the first
Partnership Day. It generated discussion about the potential for
partnership working on Youth and Community Life issues, and how
the organisations attending the event could work towards youth and
community life objectives. Key recommendations were made to the
North Warwickshire Community Partnership about strategic machinery
to develop and support these aims.
Partnership
Day 3
Partnership Day III was organised like Partnership Day
II focussing around 2 key themes of the Community Plan, ‘Environment’
and ‘Health & Wellbeing’. The event updated participants
on the progress made on issues raised at Partnership Day II. This
update included substantive change as well as process issues (e.g.
such as the valuable work done on the development of a North Warwickshire
Community Partnership and thematic groups).
Partnership
Day 4
Partnership Day IV was organised like previous years and
around focussed the themes ‘Education and Lifelong Learning’
and ‘the Local Economy’. The event updated participants
on the progress made on issues raised at Partnership Day II. This
update included substantive change as well as process issues
Partnership
Day 5 (July 2005)
Partnership Day V was structured around the thematic headings
of the Community Plan and looked at service provision in rural North
Warwickshire. Each workshop looked at the key aims and objectives
set out in the Community Plan and ask itself – Does the Community
Plan capture the rural dimensions of North Warwickshire and is the
aim and objectives right?
Partnership
Day 6
The purpose of this event was to raise awareness of the Local Area
Agreement (LAA) process and to take the opportunity to identify
priorities from North Warwickshire to inform the development of
the Warwickshire LAA. This event followed a morning session celebrating
the success of partnership and launched the North Warwickshire Sustainable
Community Plan and Rural Framework for Sustainable Action.
